Boris Umansky is a Chicago attorney involved in all aspects of trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition counseling and litigation at one of the largest and most prestigious intellectual property boutique firms in the country. Boris counsels clients in diverse industries, both large and small, as to issues pertaining to the clearance, protection, maintenance and enforcement of their valuable, non-tangible business assets.
Boris previously practiced in the area of intellectual property law at another Chicago area law firm, and, before that, worked for two years as a Trademark Examining Attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) where he obtained valuable experience relating to the trademark prosecution and examination process.
Boris received his law degree in 2000 from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, where he served as Vice President of the International Law Society and Research Assistant for the Program in International Human Rights Law.
Boris is currently a Director of the Chicago Bar Association's (CBA) Young Lawyers Section (YLS), and is a former Chair of the CBA YLS Intellectual Property Law Committee. Boris is also the former Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, Internet Law Committee. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Section of Intellectual Property Law) and the Intellectual Property Owners Association.
Boris is admitted to practice law in both Illinois and Indiana. He is fluent in Russian and conversant in French.
